The Global Ed. Website is an education resource for students and teachers. It has information on a wide diversity of global issues including development economics, governance, HIV/AIDS, human rights, health, refugees, women, the environment, food security and agriculture. Information on countries assisted by the Australian Government's overseas aid agency is also available.

Australian aid helps people by improving governance, private sector development, trade, education, water supplies and sanitation, providing emergency aid in times of crisis, building schools, hospitals and larger-scale developments and by providing technology and expert knowledge for agriculture and industry. The Global Ed. program provides teachers and students with the chance to investigate these issues on a local, regional and global scale.

Case studies, teacher's notes and student activities

Most of the information on the Global Ed. Website is presented in the form of case studies. Each case study is written by a professional curriculum writer and targeted to Australian state and national curriculum. All case studies are reviewed prior to being published to ensure they are of high educational quality and relevant to Australian education areas of learning. The material shows positive approaches to the challenges and opportunities that the global environment presents.

Case studies on the Global Ed. Website cover issues relevant to both primary and secondary school levels. In some cases however, a case study may cover a specific area of learning at a particular level, for example, upper secondary economics.

Teacher's notes and student activities are included for each case study. Teacher's notes provide an overview of the case study. They list key objectives and outcomes and shows how the case study relates to Australian school statements and profiles and at what level. Teacher's notes also provide advice on preparation and procedure and list other resources relating to the case study and area of learning. Student activities cover a range of cognitive processes designed around the case study. The activities are produced so all or some may be used depending on the teacher's objectives.
