The Ottawa Treaty banning landmines globally
Australia is one of over 130 countries to ratify the Ottawa Treaty banning landmines globally. Countries which have ratified the Treaty undertake to never, under any circumstances, use, transfer, manufacture and stockpile anti-personnel mines. Unfortunately this list does not include a number of key countries that are major producers and users of landmines. The following links provide information on the significance of the Ottawa Treaty, countries that have signed and those that haven't, and other aspects of international cooperation aimed at eradicating landmines.

A transcript of the Ottawa Treaty was approved in Oslo, Norway for signing in Ottawa 18 Sept, 1997. http://www0.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/banmines/resources/treaty.asp
