  1. Read the case study, Children claim their rights in Bangladesh.

  2. Research the climate, physical features and economy of Bangladesh. Give reasons why so many people live in poverty in Bangladesh.

  3. Review the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and write a simple summary of the provisions.

  4. List the four components of the CARD Project. Next to each component, list the rights which are being addressed.

  5. Give reasons why Shishu Parishads have been effective in promoting democratic ideals and skills.

  6. What are the major benefits of drop-in centres for rural and working children?

  7. Brainstorm special days, weeks, years and events which are commemorated in your community. Discuss with a partner, why it is important to commemorate these special occasions. What is achieved by the commemoration of Child Rights Week in Bangladesh and which rights are addressed during that week?

  8. Describe the major achievements of the regular meetings between the Central Working Children's Council and the local government official in Madhupur.

  9. Do children in Australia work? If so, how are their conditions similar and different to those of the children in poor and rural areas of Bangladesh?
