Discuss how this may impact on the opportunities in adulthood for yourself and a seventeen year old street worker in the Philippines.
- Imagine you and your colleagues are working as health workers on the Street and Urban Working Children Project in the Philippines. If you were asked to design a poster to promote the project, outline the type of information you would include to explain the health and/ or development benefits for children of one of the projects strategies.
In groups of 3-4, present an outline to the class commenting on the following aspects of your poster design.
- Identify the strategy selected from the aid program discussing tactics used to attract the target group to your poster.
- The health benefit/s for the target group.
- The development benefit/s for the target group.
- Social considerations when designing the poster.
- Write a newspaper article for the Australian Government's overseas aid program advertising the Street and Urban Working Children Project and encouraging people in industrialised countries to support this aid project. Give the newspaper article a catchy title. Illustrate how the strategies of the project have improved the health and development of children in the Philippines.
- Read the final chapter of the two working Filipino children identified in the case study.
In small groups discuss how effective the project was in improving the following aspects for these children during childhood. Then discuss how they may impact on their adolescence and adulthood in later life. Use the table below to record your answers. Give examples to illustrate your answers where needed. Share your answers with the class.

- Sustainable development can be defined as meeting the needs of the present without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Three aspects of sustainable development identified by the World Bank are social, economic and environmental. Select one of these and use examples from the project to illustrate that aspect. Present as a concept map to the rest of the class.
