Overview
This case study is designed to:
- raise awareness of developing countries and development issues
- develop greater understanding of the role that Australians and Australian institutions such as AusAID can play in helping to develop a more just world.

Objectives
Students will:
- Learn that cooperation at local, national and international levels is necessary to bring about positive, long term change
- Gain knowledge about the problems facing the people of Vietnam and ways the people are working to overcome them
- Develop empathy with and positive attitudes towards people in developing countries
Preparation
Teachers need to do the following preparation prior to the activities:
- Obtain atlases and world maps
- Gather resources about Vietnam
- Obtain a copy of the video: Iodine Deficiency Control Project: Vietnam, available from Global Education or One World Centres in most states.
