This site includes an extensive collection of official and media reports on political, economic, social and cultural developments in Burma which is updated daily. It also includes copies of reports and two journals on Burmese issues. The Burma Project, established by the Open Society Institute (founded by the Soros Foundation) in 1994, is dedicated to increasing international awareness of conditions in Burma and to helping the country make the transition from a closed to an open society.

IPG was established in 1992 by Burmese citizens living in exile and is not affiliated with any political party or organization. The Irrawaddy seeks to promote press freedom and access to unbiased information.
