The Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) Scheme helps if a family has a primary, secondary or under 16 year old tertiary student who cannot go to an appropriate government school because of living too far away. An appropriate school is a government school offering the student's level of study or, if the student has special health-related or educational needs, one providing the facilities, programs, and/or environment needed.

The Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts supports current Indigenous Australian students at the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. The Wilin Centre identifies and recruits potential and practicing Indigenous artists to study and hone their skills through the Faculty of the VCA and Music's world-class arts training programs. It educates students, staff and the public to recognise and engage with diverse Indigenous arts, artists and communities. Wilin, 'fire' in the Eastern Kulin Nation language Woi Wurrung represents the continuous spirit and living culture respected and shared by elders, alumni, staff, students and supporters alike. The Wilin Centre welcomes and supports Indigenous people wishing to pursue a career in the arts, Indigenous elders and community members and members of the public interested in Indigenous arts and cultural development. Situated within the Faculty of the VCA and Music, Southbank, the Wilin Centre is dedicated to Indigenous arts, artists, communities and career development. The unique Southbank arts precinct is built on a historic meeting and celebration place of the Eastern Kulin Nation.
