The Endeavour Programme is an Australian Government initiative, bringing together under the one umbrella all of the Department of Education, Science and Training's (DEST) international scholarships. The awards enable high-achieving scholars and professionals from around the world to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia and allow Australians to do the same abroad. The Endeavour Programme offers award opportunities in various regions including Australia, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and North/Latin America. In addition, some of its awards are available to international students worldwide.

The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships Scheme administered by DEST provides 300 new scholarships each year and enables international students to undertake a postgraduate research qualification and gain experience with leading Australian researchers. Scholarships are open to international students of all countries (except New Zealand) and are available for a period of two years for a Masters by research degree or three years for a Doctorate by research degree. The Scholarship covers tuition fees and health cover costs for students and their dependants.
