This liturgy is produced in collaboration with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC). National Reconciliation Week. This week is framed by two significant dates. May 27 is the anniversary of the 1967 referendum in which over 90% of Australians voted to give the Commonwealth the power to make laws for Indigenous people and include the original inhabitants in the census. June 3 marks the 11 year anniversary of the High Court of Australia's decision in the MABO case. The decision recognised the Native Titles Rights of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples, the original inhabitants of the land.
