Aboriginal community controlled health services in the Kimberley comprise a network of autonomous, independent, health services based in Broome, Kununurra and Halls Creek together with two large outstation community services at Beagle Bay and Bidyadanga administered from Broome. Each service is owned and controlled by a locally elected Aboriginal committee of management. The KAMSC School of Health Studies offers accredited training in Aboriginal health work for Aboriginal people from across the North West of Western Australia. The School has two campuses located in Broome and Kununurra.

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) leads the development of elite sport in Australia. It offers scholarships annually to about 600 athletes in 32 separate programs covering 26 sports. The AIS also operates an Athletes with Disabilities scholarship program. The AIS Sport Science and Sports Medicine division provides the highest level of medicine, nutrition, physiotherapy, massage, biomechanics, psychology and physiology services to elite athletes and coaches. The Australian Stuttering Research Centre was established in January 1996, within the Faculty of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney. The mission of the ASRC is to generate and disseminate knowledge about stuttering and its treatment. Treatment research at the ASRC is facilitated by a close collaborative relationship with the Stuttering Unit in Bankstown Health Service, Sydney, which is a specialist treatment facility located nearby. As well as collaborating in research, the ASRC and the Stuttering Unit conduct a program of continuing professional education in stuttering.
