The BUBL Information Service originated in the BUlletin Board for Libraries, an information service for librarians on JANET, the Joint Academic Network. As it has developed the Service has broadened its scope substantially, and now, through the BUBL Subject Tree, provides access to Internet resources and services across all major subject areas. At the same time BUBL has retained a specialist service for the library and information science community. This specialist service includes weekly updates of what's new within library and information science on BUBL, opportunites to be involved in library networking projects, and a table of contents and abstracts service. GALILEO is a virtual collection of digitized books, images, manuscripts and media with the emphasis on material important to the history and culture of the state of Georgia created by the Digital Library of Georgia, the University of Georgia Libraries, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Library. There are 2 methods of access: either through a password and public databases. The public databases contain resources on the full range of academic subjects as GALILEO attempts to provide a full range of library services online. |
