The team of climbers tackled Everest 1997 and students and teachers worldwide can read about the expedition. The team monitored changes in team members' bodies and minds as they moved into the Death Zone at 7,900 metres. Students can trace the progress of this expedition througha number of headings. The Climb follows the various phases of the climb from sea level to the death zone. It includes detailed descriptions and photographs of various aspects of the climb and the geography of the mountain. Live includes live audio , newsflashes, mail and feedback and sound bytes from the team. A History looks at Everest and the Himalayas; including the birth of the Himalayas, early pioneers, early Everest attempts, Sherpas on Everest, first to the summit, first without oxygen and more. Newsflash includes first-hand reports from the team as they made their way up the face of Everest. The Mail section lists some of the questions sent to the team during the expedition. Subjects covered include physiology, technology and equipment, the 1996 Everest tragedy and living on the mountain. The Resources section includes maps, suggested reading and Internet links on the Internet. Everest Quest '96 tells the story of the ill-fated climb of Everest in 1996. An enormous amount of information is available through this site and teachers and students can trace the progress of scientific experiments conducted during a real-life adventure. Suitable for middle primary to upper secondary.

The Australian National Pedal Prix is a competition where teams design and construct a human powered vehicle (HPV) and test it for a 24-hour period under race conditions. The teams participating in the competition are mostly from primary and high schools, although there are some private entries. Each team spends many months designing and constructing their vehicle, aiming on safety, efficiency and reliability.

Australia has an integrated sporting system that encourages sport and physical activity for all Australians. At the hub of this is the Australian Sports Commission. The ASC administers and funds sport in Australia on behalf of the federal government developing elite sporting excellence and increasing community participation. This is achieved through the two main delivery arms of the ASC, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Sport Development through Active Australia.
