Created by the University of Victoria, Canada, this site gives elementary students of Indonesian the opportunity to practise and review basic vocabulary, grammar and sentence structures. There are units each containing a range of exercises of various types, including multiple-choice quizzes, gap-fill exercises, matching exercises, short-answer questions, word-ordering exercises, sentence-ordering exercises, and crosswords. The exercises have been created using Hot Potatoes software and the site contains clear illustrations, and easy to follow navigation.

The author of this site, Peggy Reeves Sanday, is an anthropologist who went to do fieldwork in Minangkabau to study their matrilineal society. She has written up her experiences in a very accessible and personal way here, focusing on her connections with a local family whose daughter was named after her. She describes what life is like in Minangkabau society, including proverbs, the marriage ceremony, the importance of rice, the roles of men and women, and so on. The text is accompanied by numerous photographs.
