Title: Women In Development: Women's roles in the developing
nations of the Asia-Pacific region (1996)
Author: Fulloon, Sandra (writer, director, producer)
Description
This video studies the various roles of women in the development of several
nations, and identifies cultural factors important in determining gender roles.
The first sample study presented is the Solomon Islands, where 80% of the people
are agriculturalists living traditional village lives. Women's health and education
are important issues here. The second sample study focuses on Vietnam, and looks
at poverty in an agricultural community. Women and their work are examined in
both countries, with a Palau study providing some contrasts. The impact of environmental
change, and women's roles in this area are considered. Secondary and tertiary
