Planning a fundraiser

Year level: Upper primary / Lower secondary

Learning Outcome:

Students develop skills in educating others about a cause and raising funds to support that cause

Select a current situation for which there is a public appeal. If there is more than one discuss the situations and decide which one you would like to be more involved in.

Consider a response to the situation that is broader than simply raising money. (eg education, simulation, advocacy to help others understand the underlying reasons for the situation).

Devise a plan of action based on your talents and resources to raise funds for the appeal or project. Consider all the stages of the process including: planning, organisation, promotion, education, implementation and evaluation and reporting to undertake your response to the situation.

Carry out your response.

Assessment task

Evaluate your response (what worked well and anything you could do next time, or advise others to do, to improve such an activity).

Reflect on what you have learnt about the disaster and encouraging others to respond to it.
