Students will examine how ICTs are assisting in alleviating poverty.

List the ways in which you make use of ICT in your daily life.

Create a table of the examples of ICT uses listed. List your suggestions of the benefits and costs to the people featured, their families and their communities.

Describe how aspects of globalisation are making these examples possible.

Investigate an online business in Australia and compare the achievements and challenges this business has with those described in the case study Hello …the world's calling.
What explanations can you give for the similarities and differences?

Interview a grandparent or someone you know from your grandparents' generation to find out their experiences and feelings about technological change and its impact on their lives.

Write up your interview and compare your impressions with others in your class.

Assessment task
